- The Battle at Stalingrad is possibly the bloodiest battle in history with 800,000-1,600,000 casualties.
- Eighty Percent of all Soviet males born in 1923 died during the War.
- The only casualty of the first bomb of WW2 to fall on British soil was a single rabbit.
- Mexico was the only country to protest against the German annexation of Austria in 1938, just before the start of WW2.
- Poland suffered the largest amount of casualties, percentage-wise, with a loss of 20% of its population. 
- The famed expression “keep calm and carry on” was a slogan originally created as a way to preserve morale in the event of a Nazi invasion of Britain.
